History of the Ocean Legend

The prosperity of two maritime-countries on the Iberian peninsulaPortugal and Spain, greatly promoted the development of European navigation. By the mid-16th century, new powers such as England and the Netherlands were growing stronger. Soon, European navigators and missionaries split the waves and sailed all over the world, even frequent trips to distant Japan.

The age of great voyages was the time when countless brave adventurers sailed their boats to challenge the vast and mysterious sea; It was the time to defy the dangers, challenge the unknown, and bring countless discoveries and hopes to Europe; It was the age of great adventure.

Among them, Columbus, one of the early outstanding navigators, led the leading role in the Ocean Legend to the legendary journey.

Columbus lived in Portugal and Spain. He wanted to sail west and to India and China. The Portuguese emperor refused to help him, and Columbus asked the Spanish queen Isabella to help him. A few years later, the queen agreed and helped Columbus prepare three ships for a long voyage. In 1492, Columbus left Spain. Two months later, he landed on an island in the Bahamas. Later, he arrived in Cuba and Hispaniola, but he thought they were in India. The result of this error is that the island is called the west Indies after that, and he claimed ownership of the new world.

Although Columbus was not the first European explorer to arrive in America (the first European explorer to arrive in America was Lev eriksson), But Columbus's voyages brought the first lasting contact between Europe and the Americas, and opened up a great era of European exploration and colonization that would continue for centuries. These have an incalculable influence on the historical development of the modern western world.

If global connection is the beginning of modern history, the age of sailing is the prelude to modern history.
